The European Union Center at the University of Missouri encourages multi-disciplinary research on the European Union and its concomitant institutions. In order to facilitate this end, the Center offers a number of grants to faculty and international scholars to encourage the production of original, scholarly research that produces publications or other creative accomplishments. EU Starter Grant
Eligibility: Any faculty, full or part-time, currently working on the Columbia campus, regardless of rank, tenure status or discipline may participate. Awardees will be considered fellows of the Center and receive its support in their projects. Funding: Starter grants for a maximum of $3,500 are intended to be used for travel by either an MU participant or EU colleague or to fund preliminary work leading to a funding proposal to support further work by the partners. Obligations: Faculty awardees will be expected to: 1) Make a presentation on their project as part of a series of informal brown bag luncheon seminars sponsored by the EU Center. 2) Write and submit an associated grant or contract application during the 2007-2008 academic year. Applications: Should be submitted by electronic mail and contain 1) 500-750 word description of the proposed partnership project 2) Estimated budget to be covered by the starter grant 3) Current curriculum vitae 4) Note from the potential EU partner, indicating willingness to participate.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee of the Center's Academic Cabinet. Deadline for applications: February 15, 2007. It contains papers in recent years withtopics in fields of immigration policy and immigration phenomena.
