Global Missouri Scholars
The Global Scholars Program, managed by the University of Missouri's Council on International Initiatives, allows a group of MU faculty members to engage with scholars at institutions of importance to MU. In June 2010, Fritz Cropp, Director of the Transatlantic Center, led a group of 14 Missouri faculty members to Brussels. The 10-day program allowed selected Missouri faculty members to meet with colleagues from Ghent University, the University of Liege, and the Universite libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Missouri professors also visited the European Commission, heard from a NATO representative and visited the American Chamber of Commerce in Brussels.
Faculty members continue to generate specific results from experience.
For example, in collaboration with the University of Missouri Library System, the Missouri Transatlantic Center brought Paul Thirion, director of libraries for the University of Liege, to the University of Missouri to present during Open Access Week 2010. Other high-level visits between Liege and the University of Missouri are planned for 2010 and 2011.
